Have you ever wondered what abstract art is all about? Are there hidden meanings in the drips and splatters of a Jackson Pollock painting? Are there ways of reading Gerhard Richter’s blurred veils of paint or Mark Rothko’s fading colour fields? In this session Art Historian, Bojana Popovic, will discuss some of the most important paintings of the 20th century and try to offer an insight into works of art that can, at times, seem inaccessible or daunting. She will also discuss the historic context that may have led many of these artists to abstraction and why they felt this method of working was a more appropriate means to express what they were going through at the time.
