Many artists depict the scenes around them and look at their surroundings for inspiration. However, other artists create their own worlds entirely from their imagination, while others are drawn to existing stories from mythology or fables. Join us in this session, to look at how imagination has shaped the works by some key contemporary artists, including Takashi Murakami and Paula Rego. Japanese artist, Murakami, is best-known for his eclectic range of smiling characters that fill his cartoon-like pictures – almost adding to a sequential narrative each time. In a similar vein, Paula Rego used child-like motifs to create sinister tales with adult themes in her very own original way.
