This is a series of workshops designed by Azumi Uchitani to explore Japanese culture through the art of calligraphy and language. We will meet bi-weekly, slowly moving from season to season and uncovering new characters, rituals, concepts and beliefs deeply rooted in Japanese lifestyle. Each event we will centre around a new symbol: we will learn its meaning, discuss a poem about it, meditate and experience the power of the concept through calligraphy practice.
Advance Celebration: 予祝
We are excited to announce our upcoming Japanese Calligraphy workshop, where participants will not only learn the art of brush and ink but also explore the concept of Yoshuku (予祝), or ‘advance celebration.’ Rooted in the idea of celebrating success before it happens, Yoshuku is a powerful mindset that fosters positive outcomes through visualisation and joyful anticipation. In this workshop, you will experience how each stroke of the brush becomes an expression of your inner celebration and intention for the future. Whether you’re new to calligraphy or more experienced, this session offers a unique opportunity to blend artistic practice with a meaningful ritual of celebrating future achievements in advance.
