This interactive lecture will explore the neuroscience of evil and the biological origins of blame. We’ll examine real case studies of individuals convicted of crimes linked to brain abnormalities, questioning whether these individuals are to blame and if they can truly be considered evil. We’ll then discuss how social and biological factors interplay to reveal a darker side that may exist within us all, shedding light on how seemingly evil acts can be committed by seemingly ordinary citizens.

SPEAKER – SABINA FUNK
Sabina Funk is a neuroscientist by training, and now specialises in behavioural sciences. She is currently pursuing a PhD in complexity science and game theory at Warwick Business School. She is fascinated by the mechanisms of the mind and why we feel, think and behave as we do, along with the implications this has for significant questions about free will, morality, and the nature of evil .
