Dalai Lama once said that the world peace begins with inner peace.

‘Only through compassion and inner peace, can one spread peace in the world. Inner peace leads to a peaceful individual and then this peaceful individual can build a peaceful family, then a peaceful community, then a peaceful world.’ Eastern way of thinking brings our attention inside and asks to bring balance to our hearts.

Japanese philosophy Yasuragi teaches us to take a moment and be present, to notice wonders we are surrounded with. Contemplating nature or experiencing a cup of tea – every moment can bring peace to our minds. Haiku poems do exactly that: they are odes to mundane, a moment of gratitude to the transient present. One of the most famous Japanese poets, Masaoka Shiki stressed that haiku ‘contains the whole world; it is limitless and infinite’.

Join our talk on Japanese philosophy Yasuragi and explore Haiku poems as a way to find harmony and peace.
