Theorists of the Anthropocene — a term, most influential in environmental studies over the past decade, denoting a novel geological epoch during which human activity has the determinant, dominant influence on climate and the environment — consistently point to the urgent need to rethink and transform our relation to the material world that sustains us, and its other, non-human inhabitants.

Dedicated to environmental thinking/feeling, and attending to the structures of inequality that mediate the relations between human and non-human actants, this talk will explore how (art) objects can foster an encounter with alien perspectives, challenging us to fabricate new and better modes of coexisting.
