The choices and actions of the current generation will reverberate through the lives of future generations. Should we factor future generations into our decision-making? If so, how should we go about this? What is it that we owe them? Philosophers have given some thought to these questions and the lecture will summarize a few of the more plausible approaches. However, they can generate quite different duties on current generations, and so it perhaps offers another explanation as to why people disagree so much about policy. Some people think they owe more to future generations than others.
