Poetry Reading: Signs and Symbols

Join us as we delve into literary works and enjoy masterpieces read out loud by amazing actor – Matthew Peter-Carter!

Our theme for January explores Signs and Symbols in our culture. These are the poems for the next session:

  • Metaphors – Jay Hulme
  • Blackberries – Jo Bratten
  • The Hawk in the Rain – Ted Hughes
  • Bright Star – John Keats
  • In the Station of the Metro – Ezra Pound

Unlike other book clubs that expect participants to read in advance and prepare for the conversation, we welcome anyone to join the meeting without any preparation. You just have to be there and enjoy the finest works of poetry, read aloud by professional actors and English literature scholars. We will also allow sufficient time to discuss every poem in a group and reflect on how the ideas and emotions are emphasised by the power of language.

Please, note:

  • the total duration of the event is 1h
  • guests do not need any prior training or expertise in poetry – anyone is welcome to join
  • our poetry reading sessions are designed for a small group of guests and offer a friendly, relaxing atmosphere – they are not recorded
  • the number of seats for each event is limited
  • if you wish to join us and always have a guaranteed spot – you may consider one of our membership plans

Sorry, this event has ended.
